SNOOP DOGG ft. JELLY ROLL
Helping Snoop Dogg gettin’ higher than he ever was.
Nothing but purple in my circle.
THE PROPOSAL.
Once upon a time in 2024, I was contacted by Charlotte Riquel from Station Cachée to team up with a +30 awesome artists crew to work on a music video for Snoop Dogg. The job was simple: I had to take footages of Snoop himself and pimp it to match the art and animation direction. OMG. Where do I sign?!
Under the creative vision of Marion Castera and Kelzang Ravach from Temple Caché, the video was directed by
the one and only Dave Meyers. If you don’t know Dave’s work, go check this music video he did for Kendrick Lamar.
Oh and this one too, done for Little Simz (wich I adore the music).
And if you don’t know TC’s work, well, that’s a huge mistake! Hopefully, an easily fixed one!
OK. So, as a G-Funk-aholic type of dude, I can only tell you this: I was on fucking board 420%!
Why 420? Because it's like that, and that's the way it is.
THE STORY.
At its core, Mary Jane is both a surreal adventure and a powerful statement.
The video tells the story of Snoop Dogg’s lifelong connection with cannabis—not just as a personal symbol, but as
a reflection on social injustices, racial disparities, and the struggles of growing up in America’s inner cities.
This video, while hallucinatory and extravagant, speaks to something very real. It was important to everyone that
the story remained clear and impactful, despite its larger-than-life visuals.
THE VISUAL JOURNEY.
What made this project truly exciting was its hybrid visual approach.
From the start, we knew we didn’t want a music video that relied on a single technique. Instead, we wanted to create something timeless, handcrafted, and cinematic, mixing multiple forms of animation:
Live-action integration, 2D animation, 3D animation, Motion design, Collage animation, Generative AI animation.
The process was a deep dive into experimentation. We had to experiment constantly to find the right visual identity
for the video, making sure it felt cohesive, cinematic, and full of depth.
It was a process of trial and error, but ultimately, we discovered a distinctive aesthetic that truly that felt unique.
This mix of new technology and traditional craftsmanship became the essence of the video’s identity.
WHAT DID I DO?
I was mainly a puppet artist on this music video. What the hell is this?
I was given onset footage of Snoop against green screen, sometimes some 3D or AI generated assets too.
And then I had to give all those assets some character and energy.
And it’s like that that I made, for example, Snoop ridding a bong and a weedy Pegasus!
I also did made him landing in a courthouse with a super badass hero attitude (love this shot so much).
Here is an article on Station Cachée’s website to deep dive into the creative journey of this crazy music video.
Later, I’ll put right here some BTS of my work on the shots I animated.

'With Mary Jane, we wanted to stand apart from the conventions of rap music videos. This wasn’t just about cars and flashy visuals, it was about storytelling, experimentation, and pushing artistic boundaries. It’s a project that steps outside the norm, blending the hallucinatory with the meaningful, the handcrafted with the futuristic. And in the end, that’s what makes it truly special'
